SHORT TRIP « HANOI & HALONG » (5 days / 4 nights)

Day 1    Hanoi arrival - Halong    

Arrive at Hanoi airport in the morning. Transfer directly to Ha Long Bay with lunch en route. Overnight         

Day 2    Halong (BL)      

Full day cruise on Halong bay viewing limestone mountains, caves, islands, islets with sea food lunch on boat. Overnight

Day 3    Halong-Haiphong-Hanoi (BL)       

Depart from Ha Long to Hanoi via Hai Phong with short tour of the city: Du Hang temple, local market. Lunch. Arrive in Hanoi. Water puppet show in the evening. Overnight.

Day 4    Hanoi (BL)

            Full day city sightseeing  with Hochiminh Mausoleum, Temple of Literature, Tranquoc pagoda, History Museum in the morning. In the afternoon, walking tour in the old quarter, visit Ngocson temple).

Day 5    Departure Hanoi (B)      

Hanoi - AM at leisure - PM transfer airport.

Full itinerary:

Day 1    Hanoi arrival -Halong    

Hanoi arrival in the morning. You will be met and transferred directly to Ha Long Bay with lunch en route. Overnight in Halong.         

Day 2    Halong (BL)      

After breakfast at hotel, you will have a full day boat trip on Halong bay -the World Heritage and one of the natural wonders. It covers an area of 1500 square km with more than 3000 limestone peaks soaring from its crystalline emerald water. The boat will take you to visit some caves such as Thien Cung, Sung Sot between the limestone islands and islets. Have a fresh seafood lunch on boat. Enjoy a swim or relaxation on Titop Beach. Back to hotel in the late afternoon. Overnight in Ha Long.

Day 3    Halong-Haiphong-Hanoi (BL)       

After breakfast at hotel, you will depart from Ha Long to Hanoi via Hai Phong- a harbor city with short tour of Du Hang temple, local market. Lunch en route. Arrive in Hanoi. Check in hotel. In the evening, you will enjoy water puppet show-the unique art which has it origin in the delta of the Red river in the 10th century. Water puppetry is performed in a pool of water with the water surface being the stage. The puppeteers stand behind a curtain and control the puppets using long bamboo rods and string mechanism hidden beneath the water surface. Singers of Cheo (a form of opera) with origin in Northern Vietnam sing songs which tell the story being acted out by the puppets. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 4    Hanoi (BL)

 After breakfast at hotel, you start a new interesting day by visiting Temple of Literature-The first University of Vietnam and also an ancient Confucian sanctuary, which was built in the 11 century. Proceed to visit Ho Chi Minh president’s complex including mausoleum, his house on stilts, then One Pillar Pagoda, which rises on a one pillar from the middle of a square lotus pond.  After visiting Presidential palace with its colonial architecture, we move to West Lake nearby to view the biggest fresh water lake with a shore length of about 10 miles, visit Tran Quoc Pagoda located on an islet of the Lake, it is one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam and a cultural symbol of Vietnamese Buddhism. It is time for light lunch with Pho (noodle soup)-a specialty of Hanoi.

In the afternoon, visit Hoa Lo prison, later known to American prisoners of war as the "Hanoi Hilton", was a prison used by the French colonists in Vietnam for political prisoners and later by North Vietnam for prisoners of war during the Vietnam War, only part of the prison exists today as a museum. Continue with Wwalking tour around the old quarter-the oldest continuously developed area of Vietnam. Hanoi’s old quarter has a history that spans 1000 years and represent the eternal soul of the city. Each street then had merchants and households specialized in a particular trade, such as silk traders, jewellery, etc. The street names nowadays still reflect these specializations, although few of them remain exclusively in their original commerce. Have a short rest at local coffee shop. Leaving the old quarter with 36 streets, we proceed to Ngoc Son Temple, built in the 19th century on an island on Hoan Kiem (Restored sword) Lake; it was already considered the most beautiful lake in Hanoi. Initially, the temple was called Ngoc Son Pagoda and was later renamed Ngoc Son Temple, since temples are dedicated to saints. Overnight in Hanoi

Day 5    Hanoi departure (B)      

After breakfast at hotel, free at leisure until transfer to the airport for home flight. The end of the tour.

Day 4    Ninhbinh-Maichau (BL)   

Drive to Hoa Binh,visiting Hoa Binh Hydroelectricity plant en route, then continue to Maichau. Overnight in Mai Chau.

Day 5    Maichau (BL)     

Fullday around Maichau, light trekking and bike through the villages, visit of White Thai minority village of Poomcong.

Day 6    Maichau-Hanoi (BL)       

Transfer back to Hanoi. Overnight.

Day 7    Hanoi (BL)        

Fulday city sightseeing with Hochiminh Presidents’s Mausoleum, house on stilt, One pillar pagoda, Tran Quoc Pagoda, Temple of Literature, History museum. In the afternoon, walking tour in the old quarters, visit Ngocson temple.

Day 8    Hanoi departure (B)

After breakfast, you will drive to Ninhbinh via Thaibinh. In the afternoon, visit Hoalu- is the relics of the ancient Vietnam Capital, the remains are the temples dedicated to King Dinh and King Le-the two heroes who lived in the 10th century and chosen Hoa Lu to build the citadel of the capital, spending about 1 hour in Hoa Lu then you will proceed to Van Long for lunch and boat trip in Kenh Ga to view limestone mountains, bamboo boat trip to Natural Reserve of Van Long, enjoy the wonderful view similar Ha Long Bay but more serene and ecological. There are 39 species of animals, including nine precious species such as languor, Tibetan bear, chamois, Loris, and red-face monkey. There are nine reptiles listed in Vietnam’s Red Book such as grass-snake, varan, slow and harmless boas, and gecko... Overnight in Ninh Binh. 

Day 4    Ninhbinh-Maichau (BL)   

After breakfast, you will depart to Mai Chau with stop to visit Hoa Binh hydroelectricity plant in Hoa Binh city, this plant is one of the biggest powers in Southeast Asia. From your car on the mountainous road leading to Mai Chau, you can admire the superb panorama of Mai Chau surround by a green valley and stilted houses. Free at leisure. Overnight  in Maichau.

Day 5    Maichau (BL)     

After breakfast, you will have a full day around Maichau, light trekking and bike through the villages, visit of White Thai minority village of Compon to see daily activities of Thai ethnic people group with house on stilt, embroidery art. Overnight in Mai Chua

Day 6    Maichau-Hanoi (BL)

            After breakfast, you will be back to Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.

Day 7    Hanoi (BL)        

After breakfast at hotel, you will take morning flight to Hanoi. Airport pick up and transfer to downtown for hotel check in. SAT      Hanoi-Sapa (night train) 

Transfer from Hanoi hotel to Hanoi railway station for night train to Lao Cai (Victoria carriage).        

SUN      Sapa (BL)         

Arrive Lao Cai station in the early morning. Breakfast at a local restaurant. Drive to Bac Ha for Sunday market (Sunday only). In the afternoon drive to Sa Pa. Overnight at Victoria Hotel.

MON      Sapa (BL)         

Full day tour of Sapa with trecking to Catcat village, Tavan village. Afternoon climb to Hamrong mountains for panorama view of the town.

TUE       Sapa-Bacha-Laocai-Night train to Hanoi (BL)

From Sapa start tour for boat trip along the Chay River, Cocly market (on Tuesday - if possible) and drive back to Lao Cai. Then night train to Hanoi (Victoria carriage).

WED     Hanoi arrival

Arrive Hanoi early morning. Transfer to  hotel. Extra breakfast at the hotel.

SAT      Hanoi-Sapa (night train) 

Pick up at your hotel, transfer to Hanoi railway station for night train to Lao Cai. Overnight on Victoria express train. With its elegant carriages, the Victoria Express Train recalls a more romantic era. Passing through the exotic landscapes of North Vietnam, between the charming cities of Hanoi and Lao Cai.

SUN      Lao cai-Sapa (BL)         

You will arrive at Lao Cai station in the early morning. Our guide and drive will meet you up. Hot breakfast at a local restaurant. Then drive to Bac Ha for Sunday market (Sunday only). This is a big market filled with many different hill-tribe peoples. It is the most colorful market in North Vietnam. At the market, you have chance to enjoy Bac Ha people’s simple but unique kinds of food with special wines made from rice, cassavas, corn and different sorts of fruits such as plumps, apples, peaches…Continue to the H’Mong King’s house (King Hoang A Tuong- a tribal mandarin under the domination of the French colony) built by the French colonists and the Chinese in 1920.  In the afternoon drive to Sa Pa. Overnight at Victoria Hotel.

MON      Sapa (BL)         

After breakfast at hotel, you will have a full day tour of Sapa with trekking to Catcat village about 2km from Sapa. This is an age-old village of H'Mong ethnic group remaining unique customs and practices that are lost in other villages, then to Tavan village- home of Giay people, who look more like the traditional Viet living the Red delta. Afternoon climb to Hamrong Mountain for panorama view of the town, visit the orchid gardens with beautiful and colorful flowers. Overnight at Victoria Sapa in Sapa.

TUE       Sapa-Coc ly market-Lao cai-night train to Hanoi (BL)

After a breakfast at hotel. You will start a trip to Coc Ly market (Tuesday only); it takes about 2.5 hours from Sapa by drive. You visit the market with its entire colorful ethnic people such as Flower Hmong, Phu La and Dao Tuyen who gathers to buy and sell. Have lunch in a local restaurant before leaving and drive to Trung Do village - inhabited by Tay minority. From the village we go by boat down the river, where we experience the magnificent sight of the beautiful caves and bustling life on the riverbank. The boat trip takes us about 2-2 1/2 hours before you are picked up by driver. You will be taken back to Lao Cai for night train back to Hanoi on Victoria Carriage.

Day 4    Lang Son-Cao Bang (BL)

After breakfast, you will depart Lang Son for Cao Bang- a province in the Northeast of Vietnam, visit minority villages then to Pac Bo Cave, where Ho Chi Minh President lived and worked before the August 1945. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Day 5    Cao Bang-Ban Gioc water fall-Cao Bang (BL) 

After breakfast, you will have a full day trip to Ban Gioc water fall-the largest fall in Vietnam. At the height of 53m and 300m wide, Ban Gioc Waterfall has 3 layers and water from the peak create spectacular scenery as well as merry booms and sounds that could be heard from distance. Back to Cao Bang in the afternoon. Overnight in Cao Bang.

Day 6    Cao Bang-Ba Be lake (BL)       

After breakfast, you will travel to Ba Be lake then take a boat trip on the lake, swim in crystal clear waters before having lunch in the local restaurant near the lake. In the afternoon, trekking to Tay Ethnic small village. Overnight in Ba Be.

Day 7    Ba Be lake-Hanoi (BL)     

After breakfast, you will be back to Hanoi. Overnight in Ba Be.

Day 8    Hanoi departure (B)

Day 3    Hoi An-Hue (BL)

Free at leisure in the moring. Drive to Hue in the afternoon via Clouds Pass, stop for sightseeing and taking pictures on the top, visit fishing village. Overnight in Hue

Day 4    Hue (BL)           

In the morning, cruise on Perfume River up to ThienMu and Tuduc tomb. In the afternoon, visit Imperial Citadel and Market.

Day 5    Hue departure (BL)        

Transfer to  airport (or end of visits in Hué in the morning) depending on schedule).

Full itinerary:

Day 1    Danang arrival-Hoi An    (BL)

Arrive at Danang airport in the morning, you will be met and picked up by our guide and driver, visit Cham Museum-built in 1915; it displays an intensive and diverse collection of Champa sculpture dating from the 7th to 15th centuries. You will have the opportunity to appreciate the eight centuries of evolution of Champa sculpture from its golden age to its decline, and then proceed to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoi An.    

Day 2    Hoi An-Myson (BL)         

After breakfast, you will visit My Son sanctuary, which was a center for spirituality and worship during the reign of the Champa Kingdom. In the afternoon, visit Hoi An town with merchant houses, Japanese covered bridge, ancient houses, and lantern workshop. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 3    Hoi An-Hue (BL)

After breakfast, free at leisure in the morning, drive to Hue in the afternoon via Hai Van Pass, which is the highest pass of the country, stop on the top for sightseeing and taking pictures, then visit Langco fishing village at the foot of the pass. Overnight in Hue.

Day 4    Hue city tour (BL)

After breakfast, you will start a boat trip on Perfume River to Dinh market, where people make paper machee, then Thienmu Pagoda ((Heavenly Lady Pagoda)-one of the oldest, built in 1601, and prettiest religious buildings in the country. Bus pick up from the harbor to a local house near the Tuduc tomb for light lunch with local dishes, visit villages of producing bronze and coco hats nearby. Continue to Tuduc Tomb-one of the most beautiful works of Royal architecture of the Nguyen Dynasty. The tomb lies on a boundless pine forest with mounts and lakes. In the afternoon,  visit the old Imperial Citadel, built over thirty years in the early part of the 19th century, the Citadel encompasses three ‘courts’ covering a total of 6 km. The outer court within the massive brick walls, ten meters thick in places, is mainly open space and gardens. The Imperial City, built along the same lines as the Forbidden Palace in Beijing, was the country's administrative centre. Senior mandarins, court officers and civil servants would have entered by the ‘Ngo Mon’ (noon gate). Directly behind were the Dai Trieu Nghi (great rites courtyard) and the Thai Hoa Palace (throne hall) where the Emperor would meet foreign rulers and emissaries, high-ranking ministers and other dignitaries. At the heart of the Imperial City was the ‘Tu Cam Thanh’ (Forbidden Purple City). Only members of the royal family, the Emperor’s concubines, and trusted senior mandarins and officers such as the royal doctor were allowed through the sole entry gate. Inside were various palaces and the Emperor’s private apartments. Overnight in Hue.

Day 5    Hue departure (BL)        

Breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for onward flight.  The end of the tour.

Day 1    Hochiminh city- Lak Lake (car) (BL)        

In the morning, drive to Buon Ma Thuot, visit Draysap waterfall and Ede minority village. Overnight in Lak lake.

Day 2    Lak Lake-Buonmethuot (BL)       

Elephant walk on the North lakeside, then back by small boat. Continue to National Park Yok Don, and visit some minorities in Ban Don village. Lunch in local restaurant, dinner and overnight in Buon Ma Thuot .

Day 3    Don village-Buonmethuot-Nhatrang (road)            (BL)

Visit Dray Sap waterfall and Ede village of Tur. Continue to Nha Trang with lunch en route. Visit Po Nagar and Nha Trang market. Dinner and overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 4    Nhatrang-Hochiminh city (air)      (BL)

In the morning, visit Oceanography Museum, Yersin laboratory. Boat trip to Mun Island. In the afternoon,  transfer to the airport for flight to Hochiminh city.

Day 1   Hochiminh city (Saigon)-Lak Lake (BL)

Our driver and guide will meet and pick you up from your hotel in Saigon. You will have an interesting trip on the mountainous roads to Buon Me Thuat (nearly 280km from Saigon), visit Draysap waterfall and Ede minority village. In the afternoon, you will reach Lak Lake-an awakening tourist place covers 600 hectares in the rainy season, but shrinks to 400 hectares surrounded by rice paddies in the dry, it is about 60 km south of Buon Ma Thuot. Overlooking the lake is the old summer residence of Emperor Bao Dai which has been renovated into a hotel. Surrounding the lake is Jun Village, home of the Jun people. Overnight in Lak Lake. (BL)

Day 2    Lak Lake-Buon Me Thuat (BL)       

After breakfast at hotel, you will have an elephant ride across to the North lakeside, then back by small boat. Continue to  Yok Don National Park- home to 67 mammal species, 38 of which are listed as endangered in Indochina, and 17 of those endangered worldwide. The park habitats accommodate elephants, tigers and leopards, as well as nearly 250 different species of bird. After that, you will visit some minorities in Ban Don Village. Lunch in local restaurant, dinner and overnight in Buon Ma Thuot.

Day 3    Buon Me Thuat-Nhatrang  (BL)

After breakfast at hotel. You will continue to Nha Trang with lunch en route. Visit Po Nagar Tower -2 kilometers from Nha Trang city center, it is on a 20m high hill looking out over the sea. The tower was built 900 or 1,000 years ago as a religious structure by the Cham people and the culture of the Cham is infused in the architecture and sculpture that make up the tower, it is standing through the ages with historical events flowing around it.  Leaving the tower, you will visit Dam market right in the center of the city, which was built around 1908; this market was called “Dam” because it used to be a 7 hectare pond, which was a way through Cai river outlet. Because of its long existence, Dam market has become a part of the way of life for local Nha Trang people. The market is Nha Trang main Trade Center with all types of local goods, domestic and foreign articles and especially dried sea foods. Overnight in Nha Trang.

Day 4    Nhatrang-Saigon by air      (B)
After breakfast, you will visit the National Oceanographic Museum, which houses a diverse collection of ocean creatures and conducts marine research. Since its establishment in 1923, the Institute of Oceanography has collected and preserved more than 20,000 specimens and more than 4,000 sea and freshwater species. The institute also has a number of live specimens in their aquariums. After that, you will have a boat trip to Mun Island, where you stop for fishing & snorkeling. Relax & swim on your own time. On the way back to the shore, a short visit to fishing village to see the fresh shrimp, zoo groupers, sea crab raised in floating cages. Car and guide transfer you to the airport for evening flight to Saigon. The end of the tour

Day 1    Hochiminh city arrival (L)           

Arrive in Hochiminh city, welcome and  transfer to the downtown for short tour with Dongkhoi  walking street, History or War Museum, BenThanh market, outside of ThongNhat Hall, Former US Embassy. Overnight.

Day 2    Hochiminh city-Caolanh-Cantho (BL)       

Departure for Cantho, visit China town and Thienhau pagoda en route. Boat trip in Vinhlong, Caibe floating market.Lunch at local house. Continue to Cantho. Overnight.

Day 3    Cantho-Soctrang-Cantho (BL)    

Cantho – morning tour to floating markets of Cai Rang, visit fruits gardens, then by boat to Phunghiep. Continue by car to Soctrang, visit Bat Pagoda in Soc Trang. Back to Cantho by car.   

Day 4    Cantho-Chaudoc (BL)    

Transfer to Chau Doc. Enroute, visit Bang Lang garden where a lot of birds settled). Proceed to Long Xuyen. Arrive Chau Doc.Sunset boat trip in the afternoon in Chaudoc. Overnight.        

Day 5    Chaudoc-Hochiminh city (BL)      

Visit  Sam moutain, Ba Chua Xu. Visit Caolanh with boat trip in Xeoquit-former communist army base on the way. PM drive back to HCMC.

Day 1    Saigon arrival (L)

Day 2    Saigon-Vinh Long-Cantho (BL)       

After breakfast at hotel, you will visit China town and Thien hau pagoda before departing to Can Tho. On arriving in Cai Be, start the motorized boat to visit the Cai Be Floating Market, experience how people exchanging goods, fruit and many other commodities on their vessels. You will roam into the small villages to visit the orchard, fruit plantation...Keep cruising to Vinh Long through small canals to enjoy the charm of the Upper Mekong Delta. Visit some handmade family business products such as the coconut candy mill, the crispy rice popcorn.  Arrive in Binh Hoa Phuoc village-the green pearl of Vinh Long town where you can indulge yourself into the nature. Have lunch with fresh river food served in the heart of the garden. Enjoy the southern Vietnamese traditional folk music. Take a nice walk through the bonsai garden. Continue to Can Tho. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 3   Cantho-Soc Trang-Cantho (BL)      

After breakfast at hotel, you will have a full day to discover the life of Mekong Delta with boat trip to Cairang-another floating market with main items sold of farm products and specialties of Cai Rang Town, seasonal goods. Depart to Phung Hiep, get a long tail engined boat to see Phung Hiep floating market with seven river-corners. Land up the local market to “bargain” for some products here and have a look at snake – turtle shops, basketry groups, and boat making workshops turtle shops, basketry groups, and boat making workshops. Arrive in Soc Trang, visit Kh’Leang Pagoda, originally built from bamboo in 1533, it had a complete rebuild in 1905 (this time using concrete). There are seven religious festivals held here every year that are worth seeing - people come from outlying areas of the province for these events. Even outside of festival times, Khmer people drop in regularly to bring donations and pray. Continue to Bat pagoda where thousands of bats are hanging on the trees around, Buu Son Tu (Clay-pagoda) where almost every statue was made of clay. Back to Can Tho by car. Overnight in Can Tho.

Day 4    Cantho-Chaudoc (BL)    

After breakfast at hotel, you will depart to Chau Doc-a border town with Cambodia, and it is also a major hub of trade along the Mekong, with stop in Thot Not to visit Bang Lang Stork Garden-one of the biggest bird sanctuaries in the Mekong Delta, the 3.4ha garden is home to more than 600,000 birds of various kinds. Proceed to Chau Doc via Long Xuyen, visit the incense stick village, the Crocodile farm. Lunch at local restaurant. Arrive Chau Doc in the afternoon. A highlight of our visit to this region is an interesting boat trip on the Hau River to a fishing breeding farm, and a small Muslin community at Cham village, from the boat, you will have a chance to view sunset over mighty Mekong River. Overnight in Chau Doc.

Day 5    Chaudoc-Cao Lanh-Saigon (BL)      

After breakfast at hotel, you will explore the sacred Ba Chua Xu (Country Lady) Temple at the foot of Sam Mountain. The return trip to Saigon begins as we depart this border town. A part of the pleasure of travelling in this region is the simple joy of seeing the rice fields and the smiling faces of the people. On arrival we board a boat for an exploration of the Xeo Quit Forest which was once a stronghold of the communist troop during the American war. This boundless cajeput forests are dissevered by numerous narrow canals surrounded by aquatic grass and plants, tall trees and vines. The cool and humid air mixing with the fragrance of flowers as well as the beautiful songs of birds in the quiet environment makes for an unforgettable excursion. Return to Saigon in the late afternoon. Overnight in Saigon.     

Day 6   Saigon departure (B)      
            After breakfast at hotel. Free at leisure until car transfer to the airport for home flight. The end of the tour
